> Salvation Army - Soup and Sweet Volunteer
The Salvation Army is a Christian church and registered charity, working in 126 countries worldwide, that offers support, friendship and practical help to people of all ages, backgrounds and needs. They are currently looking for volunteers to help on Fridays for their “soup and sweet” from 11.00 am - 1.30 pm which is a free weekly service for homeless people and anyone else who is on a low income. They would like people who are willing to help prepare and serve food and to wash and dry up. A cook would also be great as the present cook is elderly and gets very tired.
> Winter Night Shelter - Winter Night Shelter Volunteers
This is the fourth year that the Winter Night Shelter project has operated in Milton Keynes. Following a very successful project last winter they are again offering a hot meal and a bed for the night to street homeless people during the harshest of the winter months. The shelter will run from December - March through a partnership with local churches and voluntary and statutory organisations. The project cannot run without the kind and generous support of many volunteers helping to prepare the venue, cooking and serving food or engaging with guests through conversation, games or quizzes. Some volunteers stay overnight and others arrive first thing to serve breakfast and help clear up. Volunteers find the tasks rewarding and inspiring as they seek to help move guests into accommodation and work.
> Milton Keynes Equality Council - Exhibition Volunteers
Milton Keynes Equality Council are looking for a bank of individuals who are passionate about equality and diversity and want to share that passion. Individuals will need to be willing to volunteer when required for a few hours on an exhibition stand talking to people about what the Equality Council is and what services they deliver. The role will be sporadic and you may only be required a couple of times per year, however you will be given full training as well as invites to all of their events.

This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic person who wants to make a real difference in their community. This is a great team and they have a lot of laughs together and enjoy what they do. This role takes place in an office within a warehouse and they have lots of friendly volunteers popping in and out. It can get a little cold though so you would need a thick jumper in winter. Ideally The Food Bank would like a volunteer who could come in two mornings/afternoons a week, evenly spread e.g. 10 - 12pm on Tuesday and 2 - 4pm on a Friday, but they are flexible.
