Opticians Kilimanjaro effort raises £8,000 for Willen Hospice

Two city opticians have successfully climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of Willen Hospice.

Store director Baljit Kaur and fellow optician John Singh, from thecentre:mk Specsavers branch, begun climbing the African mountain in October 2012.

Their spectacular efforts saw them raise over £8,100 for their cause – money which will help the Hospice provide care for patients.

A cheque was presented to the Hospice when the opticians returned to England.

Ms Kaur said: “The climb was one of the most demanding and exhausting things we have ever done, but we have really enjoyed the challenge of raising money for such a worthwhile charity.

“We are extremely grateful for all the support that helped us raise such a large amount.”

And Willen Hopsice cheife executive, Paul Hinson, added: ‘We are thrilled at the tremendous personal effort that Baljit and John from the Specsavers team have put into fundraising for Willen Hospice. We would like to thank them for their hard work.’
