A PILOT parking scheme will be carried out on two estates after a number of residents complained about not being able to park in their own street.

Non residents will be restricted from parking on Conniburrow and Bradwell Common from the city centre to the Boulevards between 9am and 3pm every day.

Residents will be given one free parking permit per car they own as well as one visitor permit which can be used on any vehicle.

The proposals will be introduced on an experimental basis at first and then reviewed after six months.

The council will soon be writing to those affected inviting them to apply for their permit.

Cabinet member responsible for transport, councillor John Bint, said: “We are constantly reviewing parking arrangements and this is one of the areas we looked closely at.

“This shows that we have listened to the residents.”
