A man has died after being struck by a lorry on a dual carriageway during this morning’s rush-hour.

The heavy goods vehicle was travelling on the A509 between Chicheley and Olney at around 8.50am when it collided with the pedestrian.

He was taken to Milton Keynes Hospital by ambulance but later died. His next of kin has been informed by police officers.

Inspector Daren Courtenay, from the Joint Operations Unit for Roads Policing, said: “We are investigating the circumstances of this collision on the A509 in the Chicheley area and would be grateful if anyone who saw what happened who hasn’t already spoken to the police, comes forward with details.”

The A509 was closed in both directions while officers examined the scene and has since reopened.
