The opening of a refurbished play area in Loughton will help children get active thanks to new equipment including swings, slides and climbing frames.
Councillor Peter Todd, chairman of Loughton & Great Holm Parish Council, is delighted with the new facility.
He said: “Some of the children’s play areas in Loughton used to be in a shocking state of disrepair.
“Since becoming chairman I have been working hard to do something about this. I am delighted to see what we have been able to achieve a really fantastic new play play area at the Loughton Sports Ground.”
To celebrate, Loughton & Great Holm Parish Council, in partnership with WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental),and Milton Keynes Council, hosted an official opening of the play area on Saturday.
Mayor, Councillor Brian White and Mayoress Leena White attended to cut the ceremonial ribbon, with MK Play Association putting on a number of activities for childrenincluding model making, building tepees and trying out the new equipment.
The outdated and unsafe, old play equipment was installed thanks to a grant from WREN and support fromMilton Keynes Council.
