Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to an assault in Porthleven Place in Fishermead on Monday.

The victim, a 25-year-old man, was walking through the Xscape building, when he felt a push from behind. As he looked to his side, he saw a couple walk past. Words were exchanged between both parties, who continued to walk towards the overbridge opposite the Virgin Active gym in the direction of Fishermead.

As he arrived at Porthleven Place, the man was approached by five to six Somalian men, one of whom attempted to punch him in the face. The victim ran off past the hair salon where he was again assaulted by the men. A sharp object was used, causing a one inch gash under his left eye. He received treatment at Milton Keynes General Hospital.

Sergeant Susan Herbert, who is investigating, said: “I am keen to trace anyone who may have witnessed this incident or the build up to it. I am particularly keen to speak to the couple, who were of Somalian origin. I would urge anyone who has information to call me as soon as possible”.

Anyone with information should contact Sgt Herbert via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 101.
