Police investigate unexplained fire death

Thames Valley Police is currently investigating an unexplained death after a fire on Saturday.

Officers were called by the fire service to a fire at a commercial garage in Church Street, Bletchley at 5.11am.

A man was rescued from the building, however he later died at the scene.

The road closures, set up on Church Street as police and fire service continued their investigation, were lifted later the same day.

Crews from Bletchley, Great Holm and Broughton were called to the fire in a commercial garage in Church Street shortly before 5am after it was spotted by a neighbour.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus found the man inside the ground-floor workshop area and carried him outside.

Firefighters and paramedics tried to resuscitate the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Group Manager Greg Smith from Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends and the local community.

“Firefighters will be visiting the area today to provide reassurance and offer fire safety advice to local residents.”
