THE star of new movie The War Horse attended the London premiere on Sunday – proving to be the mane attraction.
Thoroughbred horse Joey was trained by Dan Naprous and The Devil’s Horsemen stunt team in Mursley for two months prior to appearing in the Steven Spielberg film. As star attraction they were both first down the red carpet at the star studded event at the Odeon in Leicester Square attended by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Dan, who has been working with horses since he was a child, said: “The premiere itself was great, and Joey certainly got a lot of attention. He has been with us for around six or seven years now and it was great training him.
“He is very responsive to everything and he is always intrigued with things which is great.”
The team spent two months training Joey to prepare him for all of the explosions and loud noises he was subject to in the movie and Dan said his welfare was most important.
The First World War epic, which has been nominated for best drama at the Golden Globes, is based on a play inspired by children’s author Michael Morpurgo’s novel.
