A professional speaker from Milton Keynes has proved he has the gift of the gab by winning a national award.

Paul Preston is the Professional Speaker Academy’s UK Speaker of the Year and Global Male Speaker of the Year 2015.

In an awards ceremony at London’s Radisson Hotel on Saturday night, Paul scooped the two biggest awards that a British professional speaker can hope to achieve in their career, UK Speaker of the Year and Global Male Speaker of the Year.

Speaking afterwards Paul said: “I’m tremendously honoured and humbled to receive these awards and this accolade and be recognised by the industry.

”I went bust in the 2008 recession and lost everything, so the last few years have been very difficult. After I lost my business, I was working as a cleaner on £6 per hour. This recognition shows that all the hard work and the journey back was worth it.”

After leaving the awards ceremony at midnight, he drove to a World Record breaking speaking event that saw him personally take to stage for 30 hours straight to break the Guinness World Record for the longest ever team speech.

Paul contributed 30-straight hours to the Progressive Property four-man team’s target of 120 hours, raising over £70,000 for Sue Ryder Care in the process.

Paul, who has been a Milton Keynes resident for 20 years, is also a local entrepreneur. His first local business was a recruitment company.
