Runners are being urged to be on their marks, get set and sign up for next year’s Milton Keynes Marathon.
The event, to be held for the third year running on May 5, 2014, is looking to boost its popularity still further after attracting a healthy 3,000 entrants for this year’s marathon.
Anne Hully, assistant race director, said organisers hope the race will become as established as its London counterpart, pointing out the advantages of staging a race in the new city.
She said: “The race was so good this year because we had brilliant weather. Everyone wants to do the London one but there is so much pressure on people to raise money for charity.
“We still encourage people to do so but understand how hard it is. The registration is a lot easier and people can focus on their training.”
The route will remain the same, taking in the green areas along the city boulevards and through the shadows of the Xscape building and Campbell Park.
Anne added: “We want people to realise that Milton Keynes is a good place to run and that people are so supportive and there is a great community spirit here.
“People in Milton Keynes know it but we want people from all around the world to hear about us and enter. One day we may even get some elite runners taking part.”
