Residents give thumbs up to new Milton Keynes canalside development

Crest Nicholson and Milton Keynes Development Partnership (MKDP) have held an exhibition of their proposals for Campbell Park Canalside at the centre:mk. People were asked to comment on the proposed development of the 21 acre site bordering the Grand Union Canal to the east of Campbell Park.

Almost 90 per cent of those who responded to the exhibited plans were supportive and welcomed the plans.

The most popular elements were the water-based parts of the development including the new 110 berth marina and the canal bridge linking Campbell Park to Newlands.

The proposal provides 380 new apartments and town houses with integrated car parking, a local convenience store, a café, restaurant, nursery and a pub.

The development sets the location and provides the starting point of the proposed Bedford to Milton Keynes Waterway Park (B&MK).

Charles Macdonald, chief executive of MKDP, said: “We are very encouraged that this exciting scheme received such positive feedback.

“The observations and suggestions made have been extremely helpful and have been fed back to the architects who are working on the detailed plans for submission to the MK councils planning department.”
