Frustrated drivers claim road closures surrounding stadium:mk on Saturday caused “sheer chaos” in the city.

More than 27,000 people descended upon Milton Keynes to watch Northampton Saints taking on Saracens in the run up to this year’s Rugby World Cup.

But those who were not at the match questioned the decision to close the roads around V7 Saxon Street.

William Hewitt told the Citizen: “If MK Dons are to get promoted to the championship next season, does this now mean that the citizens of Bletchley are to get the roads closed over and over again when supporters turn up at stadium:mk.

“In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me if the organisers of the Rugby World Cup, will now be having reservations over why they selected Stadium MK as one of their grounds for matches.

He added: “Is the council traffic department run by Mr Bean or Kermit the Frog??

“Who on earth realistically thought that by closing the roads around stadium:mk would actually solve the issue of high traffic?”

The Citizen has contacted the council for a comment.
