Milton Keynes rugby players met their match when they helped relaunch the new-look Clocktower pub with the 1kg Flaming Burger Challenge.

The pub, on White Horse Drive, Emerson Way, invited the ‘beefy’ boys to officially re-open the popular watering hole after its transformation into a Flaming Grill, and they took the opportunity to face off against each other with the Flaming Challenge Burger.

The burger is made up of two flame-grilled 12oz beef burgers, two breaded chicken fillets, spicy chilli beef, melted cheddar cheese, plus onions, crispy bacon and onion rings, served with a giant helping of chips.

After 19 minutes and 33 seconds, Phil Moss, a prop for MK Rugby Club, was named challenge champion, taking his place on the pub’s Hall of Flame – dedicated to those who have defeated the burger.

Phil said: “We had a great time at the relaunch of the Clocktower, they have made some great changes and the new Flaming Grill menu looks fantastic.

“We have just started our new season so we’ll definitely be in here fueling up again. I’m proud to say I completed the challenge!”
