A record 76.5 per cent of applications for new secondary school places were made online this year – up 20 per cent from last year’s figure.

This has seen the amount of booklets and paper application forms used reduced by almost 50,000 printed pages.

All those who applied online will have received an email on Thursday evening confirming the place offered to their child. All applicants, including those who applied by paper application, should receive a letter confirming the place offered by the weekend.

This year 85.5 per cent of pupils moving up to secondary school in Milton Keynes this autumn have received their first preference of school, compared with 89 per cent last year. 97 per cent of pupils were allocated one of the three preferences stated by their parents – comparable to last year’s figure of 97.8 per cent.
