On Sunday, hundreds gathered round the epitaph on the memorial in Horsefair Green, Stony Stratford, for this year’s Remembrance Service.
An inspiring speech was given during the course of the service after the 1st Stony Stratford Scout Group led the parade up the high street to the war memorial.
They hosted a community gathering in the Scout Hall afterwards, providing 150 members of the local community with hot drinks, hot dogs and cake.
Scout Group Leader Alby Wilson said: “We were thrilled to see so many of the local community come back to the Scout Hall.
“Everyone seemed to appreciate the hard work that Beaver Scouts, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts - as well as the leaders and their families - put into creating banners, table decorations, cakes and displaying historical memorabilia throughout the past week.”
Among those organisations present were: 1st Stony Stratford Scout Group, First Stony Stratford Girl Guides, Stony Stratford Rainbows, St Mary’s & St Giles School, St Mary’s & St Giles Church, the Greek Orthodox Church, Wolverton & Stony Stratford Rotary Club, Thames Valley Police, Stony Stratford Council, Milton Keynes Council, the RAOB and, of course, The Royal British Legion and Stony Stratford (MK) Lions Club.
