Spring is here, which means Milton Keynes’ Willen Lake is open for watersports and leisure activities for the new season.
The lakeside park has watersports activities for eight years upwards including sailing, paddlesports and windsurfing, with courses for beginners to master basic skills before moving up to a more advanced level and those more experienced watersports fans.
Chris Haysey, Willen Lake outdoor pursuits and watersports centre manager, said: “Willen Lake is a great place to entertain family and friends, whether it’s a visit to the café, a lakeside stroll, trying a beginners’ course in sailing or hiring a pedalo or bike.

Novices might like to try introductory sessions from £35 per person for kayaking or canoeing, a two hour introduction to windsurfing for £42 or a discover sailing course, also £42.
There is also a full range of Royal Yachting Association and British Canoe Union approved courses for more experienced watersports’ enthusiasts.
A typical weekend course (15 hours) costs £198, but if you want to achieve a specific goal or extend your skills following one of our watersports courses personal tuition is also available and costs from £35 per hour.
You can also hire a pedalo, canoe or kayak for fun, prices from £11 per hour (under 14s must be accompanied by an adult).
If you’ve gained your RYA Level 1 Dinghy sailing or Start Windsurfing award you can hire a dinghy or a windsurfer on the lake. Prices range from £18 - £32 per hour.
Other attractions at Willen Lake include Aerial Extreme, the biggest high rope adventure course in the South of England.
It includes a junior course, an adventure course and the awesome Goliath – the UK’s largest freefall experience.
WakeMK is the place to go for wakeboarders, kneeboarders, wakeskaters, kitesurfers, and even surfers.
The watersports and information centre is situated at the lakefront at Willen Lake South, next to the fitness centre and restaurant, and is open every day from 9am to 6pm.
