THE search is on to find the city’s unsung heroes and to celebrate all that is good about Milton Keynes.

The Pride in Milton Keynes Awards focus on all the positives of living in a forward thinking city such as Milton Keynes, and we celebrate the huge number of special people and groups who have gone out of their way to make their community a better place.

They might be unsung heroes or people who have had a positive impact on the community. They might be young people making a difference with their energy and enthusiasm or people who have put in years of support and care.

The aim of the awards is to recognise those who give their time selflessly to help others and make a difference. We believe people like that – and there are many of you – deserve to be honoured for their work and we are calling on readers to let us know just how great they are.

We’re looking for nominations in 10 categories, all backed by prominent local companies and organisations, so that we can salute as many Milton Keynes heroes as we can.

Lots of people complain that newspapers only report the negative things in life. That’s never been true of the Citizen and Citizen First and it’s one reason why we continue to make Pride an important date in the area’s calendar.

The seventh annual Pride Awards, supported by headline sponsors Costa and Stanair, will take place in October at the Doubletree Hilton at stadium:mk and will showcase ordinary people with extraordinary community spirit, great bravery and those who work tirelessly to improve the lives of others.

Readers have until the end of August to let us know who deserves to win one of our Pride awards, one of which is sponsored by IKEA. You can nominate someone else, you can nominate yourself – but we want you to give the judges a difficult task by making a case for as many of our shining stars as you can.

The entry process is simple. Details of what the judges will be looking for are available on our website www.miltonkeynes.co.uk

Enter via the website or post entries to Pride in Milton Keynes, c/o Newspaper House, Ise Park, Kettering, NN16 8GA.

Please give the judges as much information as possible to help them make up their minds.

The awards will be presented at a special ceremony taking place at the Hilton Doubletree on Thursday, October 4 with Nitin Ganatra of EastEnders fame acting as host for the evening.
