Sharing stories is a fun way to let our imaginations run wild and youngsters are never too young to enjoy books.
World Book Day at Kiddi Caru Caldecotte day nursery was a real occasion this year as storytime took on a special twist.
The children dressed up and had their faces painted so that they resembled their favourite fictional character.
Habits formed at a young age will stay with children for a lifetime so interacting with brightly coloured images and experiencing turning the pages will only make reading a more exciting prospect in future.
Senior nursery manager Louise Higgins, said: “Sharing books and stories combines the benefits of talking, listening and storytelling.
“Sharing books with babies and young children is a fun way to promote their vocabulary.”
