Sick Rik pulls out of B'stard show

HE might be known for sick comedy but it is no joke Rik Mayall has had to pull out of his hit show The New Statesman at Milton Keynes Theatre through illness.

His place will now be taken by his understudy Mike Sherman.

Confirmation that the 49-year-old would not be appearing as the devious MP Alan B'Stard came yesterday after increasing concern about his health during the arduous UK tour of the show which, in its original form, played Milton Keynes last year.

"It is a shame but The New Statesman is an excellent show and the understudy Mike Sherman has been getting very good reviews," said MKT's Callum Austin.
