A CITY restaurant is looking to lift the gloom on Blue Monday.
The official ‘Blue Monday’ was calculated by Dr. Cliff Arnall in 2005 who claimed there are six distinct things that make January 23 the gloomiest day of the year.
These include bad weather, lack of money, time elapsed since Christmas, time elapsed since failing our New Year’s resolutions, our general seasonal motivational levels and lacking things to look forward to.
All of these factors come into play by Monday of the last full week of January making this Monday a day that a lot of people will be feeling very sorry for themselves.
To cheer up the country Zizzi, the high-street Italian restaurant will be shaking off ‘Blue Monday’ this year by inviting customers in for free food and prosecco on Monday in a bid to reduce several factors that help contribute to making this day the most depressing day of the year.
Zizzi can’t do much about the weather unfortunately but by giving away free food and drink to the whole nation thousands can have something to look forward to that won’t cost them a penny - two of Dr Arnall’s ‘Blue Monday’ deciders. All 118 restaurants across the UK will open their doors to the public who can come along and work on those motivational levels over (free) delicious Cichetti (Venetian tapas) from Zizzi’s brand new menu, including mini Calzone pizza, oven baked chicken skewers and risotto balls with mushroom and mozzarella, followed by a (free) cool, crisp glass of Prosecco.
Simply click on here and enter your name to secure one of the limited places at any of the 118 Zizzi restaurants nationwide. No T’s & C’s, just free food between 6-7pm.
Helen Jones, Managing Director at Zizzi, commented: “January is a depressing month for many people; it’s cold and dark outside, the festivities from Christmas and New Year are over and pay day seems so far away. By holding this giveaway at every restaurant we’re hoping to put a smile on thousands of faces across the country in just one hour. There will be lots of different authentic Cichetti dishes to try and share with friends, so we’re hoping the atmosphere in every restaurant will help turn this year’s ‘Blue Monday’ into a ‘Happy Monday’.”
