The Citizen’s campaign for a new A&E at Milton Keynes hospital made a successful debut in the House of Commons this week.
Days after the campaign received cross party backing from Milton Keynes Council, MP Iain Stewart made a parliamentary speech outlining the need for a bigger facility.
He and fellow city MP Mark Lancaster are working with the Citizen to secure the necessary £20 million funding from the government.
Iain told MPs : “The issue is simply one of space. The A & E department was designed for approximately 20,000 patients a year...It is now dealing with well over three times that number.”
He described the Citizen as ”excellent”, and also praised the hospital’s staff for their dedication.
And he urged the Department of Health to ensure the A & E bid receives a “favourable and timely response” when it is submitted.
