Sky Sports and former Countdown presenter Jeff Stelling is set to complete a marathon walk from Northampton’s Sixfields stadium to Milton Keynes in March as part of a bid to raise money for prostate cancer research.

The football expert who hosts the Gillette Soccer Saturday show and used to present Channel 4’s Countdown, will be heading from the Cobblers ground to the city’s stadiummk, the home of MK Dons, on March 28.

The walk is part of presenter’s bid to walk 10 marathons in 10 days for Prostate Cancer UK.

Setting off from Victoria Park on March 21, home of his beloved Hartlepool United, the face of Soccer Saturday will head south to Wembley stopping at football grounds long the way and walking a total of more than 260 miles in the process.

A spokeswoman for Prostate Cancer UK, said: “Jeff deals in statistics – but the ones we are dealing with here are shocking. One in eight men will get prostate cancer, and one in four if you are black. One man dies every hour from prostate cancer. It’s a scary thought.”

The exact timings of Mr Stelling’s MK visit are yet to be finalised, but Prostate Cancer Uk has said he will be joined by other “high profile” guests along the way.
