A DUO from Specsavers, Milton Keynes, have spoken of their joy at completing their charity climb up Mount Kilimanjaro.

THE top of Mount Kilimanjaro was a sight for sore eyes for Baljit Kaur and John Singh who have now raised more than £7,000.

Ms Kaur said: “We ventured on this journey in February 2012 to Climb Mount Kilimanjaro in October 2012, with lots of physical training and getting into the right mind set of the challenge ahead.

“I found it a huge accomplishment and achievement of finally reaching the top after 5 days of trekking through rain forest. Very high and steep climbs, altitude and sleeping in the clouds all added to this fantastic experience. All for an amazing charity Willen Hospice, for which we have raised over £8000.”

They donated £1 from every eye test in June and July, held numerous cake sales and held a charity gala dinner.

The duo started the challenge on October 11 and finished it six days later.
