AN Indian restaurant raised more than a thousand pounds as part of its third anniversary celebrations.

VerandahTalk, based in Wolverton, hosted a swanky black tie charity event on Saturday night – with proceeds going to Willen Hospice and MK Dons Sports & Education Trust (SET).

City radio station MKFM and Real Music MK put on a night of musical entertainment at the Stratford Road based eatery, with performances from young stars Moon Williams, Emily Orchard and Holly Brewer.

Money raised from an auction, compered by MKFMs Darren D, and raffle raised more than £1,100.

Among those present on the night was Milton Keynes Mayor Councillor Catriona Morris. She was representing her chosen charity, MK Dons SET.

Guests were also treated to a four course meal at the restaurant, which is this week celebrating National Curry Week.

VerandahTalk owner, Taj Raja, said: “It went fantastically well and we are proud to have raised more than a thousand pounds for these two excellent charities.

“I would like to thank the following companies who donated prizes: Blissfully Young, Skyline Taxis, Unwind MK, Abbey Hill Golf Club, Cotels, Express Aviation and Cranfield Flying School.”
