Five slimmers have raised money for HULA Animal Rescue, with the help of hypnotherapy.

Clinical hypnotherapist Robin How, who is a trustee of the charity based in Aspley Guise, used his expertise to run a four-session ‘Virtual Gastric Band’ programme for the women.

And in five weeks, they had clocked up weight losses ranging from 15lbs to 3lbs and raised £374 in sponsorship donations from friends and work colleagues.

Now the slimmers – Clare Cleaver, Kaz McCreadie, Mandy Norris and Katie Baines, pictured, and Diane Keane – intend to continue to lose more weight at a safe rate.

The Virtual Gastric Band uses the power of hypnosis to convince the mind that the stomach has had a gastric band fitted and retrain the person to be satisfied with smaller amounts of food.

Mandy Norris said: “We don’t tend to think about eating between meals now and it’s good that we don’t need to deny ourselves any food type, so there’s no guilt involved.”
