Nimble-fingered knitters are being called to join in with the Spread the Warmth campaign and knit a little woolly hat.
The campaign, organised by Age UK and Innocent drinks, has seen four million hats knitted nationally over the last ten years. This year the target for people in Milton Keynes will be 3,900.
The hats will then be used on top of Innocent smoothie drinks bottles which when sold will see 25p donated to the Spread the Warmth campaign.
That money will then be used to help projects in the winter helping to organise repairs to central heating boilers for older people and draughtproofing.
Jane Palmer, chief executive at Age UK Milton Keynes, said: “People in Milton Keynes have been supporting The Big Knit for five years. Winter can be a difficult time of year for many older people, so it’s really important that local knitters get behind The Big Knit to help raise funds so that we can provide extra support in the cold winter months. Please let us have your hats by Friday 20th September.”
