THE redeveloped Station Square has been officially opened.

Mayor Councillor Catriona Morris unveiled a stone plaque to make the completion of the gateway to the city on Monday.

The plaque is made of Corian, a durable and weatherproof material, and bares the engraving: ‘This commemorative plaque was laid by the Mayor Cllr Catriona Morris to mark the completion of the redevelopment of this key gateway into Milton Keynes in 2012.’

After the unveiling, Mrs Morris said she was ‘delighted’ to open the Square.

Cabinet member for Highways and Transportations, Councillor John Bint, said the area has been given “a much needed overall boost”, while remaining in-keeping with the “original design ethos for CMK.”

The newly renovated square now features brightly coloured ‘signage’ totems and many clearly marked bus stations, along with space-saving cycle racks that are both innovative and practical.

A spacious walkway is another new addition, seperating the buses, taxi ranks and drop off points, and providing pedestrians with safe and easy access to the station.
