RESIDENTS in Stony Stratford are already gearing up for this year’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

The Stony Diamond Fun Run starts their Diamond Jubilee celebrations on Monday, June 4 and the planning committee is urging people to show their support by registering to take part or coming along to watch the run.

The event will start at 10am with toddler runs in the High street. At 10.30am there is a run for 8 to 12 year olds and at 11am the Mayor of Milton Keynes will start the 5k run from Mortimer Park, off Calverton Road.

The finish to the run is in the High Street which will look fantastic with bunting along its full length (thanks to the Stony Stratford Business Association) and the flowers from Stony Stratford in Bloom. The run will be unique because musicians will be playing along the route.

Registration is £8 /£5 for concessions. All runners receive a T shirt on registration. Funds will be used by the Town Council to support local organisations in Stony Stratford parish.

The route will be Mortimer Park, Riverside Walk, three circuits of the Mill Field, Toombs Meadow and finishing in the High Street, Stony Stratford.

The Mayor of Milton Keynes will be attending and will start the runs.

The public are really important to the success of the day so Stony Stratford Town Council wants people to come along and support and cheer the runners on the route and hopefully enjoy the Big Lunch starting at 1pm in Mortimer Park afterwards.
