A photography competition is being launched today to encourage Milton Keynes residents to ‘Take Notice’ of Milton Keynes and increase their sense of wellbeing.
By photographing a place, nature, event or local people, and saying why it is special to them, residents can be part of an exhibition in May.
The competition is being run by Milton Keynes Council, INTU and the local 5 Ways to Wellbeing partnership.
‘Take Notice’ is one of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing and encourages people to pay more attention to the present moment – to their own thoughts and feelings, and to the world around them in order to improve their mental wellbeing.
There are two age categories within the photographic competition: 5-16 years and 16+ years.
Five winning entries from each age category will be chosen.
As well as seeing their photograph feature centre stage in an exhibition in May prizes include a framed print of winning image, Intu shopping vouchers and a copy of the photo book ‘Unexpected MK’ released to celebrate 50 years of Milton Keynes.
The deadline for submissions is April 14 and winners will be notified by May 5.
All winning images and as many images as possible will be displayed in Intu during Mental Health Awareness Week, 8-14 May- with prizes awarded during this week.
