Wolverton & Greenleys Town Council along with Community ActionMK would like to invite all of Milton Keynes and it’s neighbours to join them in celebrating the 1950’s and the Diamond Jubilee by staging a 1950’s ‘Big Lunch’ event and entertainment for the whole family.
The event, held on Sunday, June 3, will feature live music, dancing, Vagabond film marquee, fashion show, carousel, inflatables, helter skelter, 1950’s fairground games, homemade crafts and cakes, face painting, fifties games and activities, along with fancy dress to name but a few.
Organisers are asking the community to get involved by bringing a picnic lunch to the club, where they will be able to enjoy entertainment from this exciting decade. There will be games and races from the 50s era for everyone to get involved in. There will also be a 1950s fancy dress with prizes for the best dressed at the lunch.
So come on everybody, whether you’re seven or 70, get your glad rags on for this free event and help set the scene. Do you have the charm of Frank Sinatra, the energy of Elvis Presley, the presence of Winston Churchill, the charisma of Cary Grant, the talent of Johnny Cash or the glamour of Brigitte Bardot? Now is your moment!
The organisers welcome 50’s style entertainers and stall holders to come forward and get involved. They said: “We want to make this event a one-off fifties extravaganza.”
The event will run between 12pm and 4pm at Wolverton Sports & Social Club, Field Lane, Greenleys.
