Staff members of the BEST WESTERN Moore Place Hotel, are getting in some final preparation training for this tomorrow’s 26.2-mile Milton Keynes marathon, in memory of their late colleague Ian Daniels.
Danny, as known by his friends, tragically died from a brain aneurysm in July 2011. The money raised will be donated to the John Radcliffe Hospital where Danny was treated before he passed away.
Kim Gidley, 31, Alyce Grisley, 24, Laura Burchill, 24 and Ellen Gullisken, 20, will complete the race in a relay. They will each take on part of the course with distances varying between 4.7 miles and 8.5 miles.
Kim, Front of House at the Best Western Moore Place Hotel, said: “Danny was an amazing person and a fantastic addition to the hotel staff. We are doing this in honour of him and raising awareness for an extremely worthwhile cause.
“Danny is missed very much by the whole team and so we want to raise as much money as possible. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.”
Kim and the team initially set out to raise £500 for the charity, but after already raising over £600, the girls are setting their sights even higher going for the £1,000 mark!
The John Radcliffe Hospital is Oxfordshire’s main accident and emergency site. It provides acute medical and surgical services including trauma, intensive care and cardiothoracic services. It is the largest of the Trust’s hospitals covering 66 acres.
