Tucking into tasty cakes at Milton Keynes Academy resulted in a massive £1,039 being raised for Willen Hospice.

Restaurant Manager Pauline Whitfield from MK Academy at Leadenhall organised a teatime event and ensured that more than 800 cakes were available to buy.

Mrs Whitfield said: “I am absolutely delighted that we raised so much money for such a good cause.”

The tea party was attended by business people, local residents and staff. Sixth form students helped to serve refreshments.

Proceeds were boosted when 60 boxes of cakes were also sold to Academy staff the following day.

Brake Bros donated some of the cakes, with Brasserie Blanc and Elanele Beauty Centre donating raffle prizes. RFE International UK donated an exercise bike which was auctioned for £100.
