Teddy bear amnesty in Milton Keynes

It's time to be ruthless, and show teddy-bear the door!

There’s every chance that your child has more than enough cuddly pals for a teddy-bears picnic, but there comes a point when the bears needs to be thinned out.
And intu Milton Keynes wants your previously loved, and now overlooked furry friends.

The amnesty will be hosted at Central Boulevard this Saturday, and through to Sunday May 29.

All donations are welcome, whether you have a four-foot bear or a teeny tiny unicorn.

Even if he is a bit poorly and has a little stuffing spilling out, he won’t be refused - the talented team at The Zip Yard will be repairing any injured teddies at their Teddy Bear Hospital.

Donations will be divided among selected local children’s charities and groups to give Ted a new home where he will be much loved.

Any organisations that would like to be the beneficiary of donations can register by emailing [email protected] or phoning 01908 255618.

The Teddy Amnesty is launching in association with intu Milton Keynes’ Eco Weekend, celebrating all things green. The shopping centre will showcase the best environmental initiatives from stores within the centre as well as services from across the city.

Mini eco warriors will have the chance to create a pedal-powered paint spinning masterpiece; they can race the cyclists on a pedal-powered Scalextric and take part in green-themed craft workshops and colouring in.

A wall jam-packed with facts about intu Milton Keynes and brands within the centre will let shoppers find out more about what environmental processes take place behind the scenes.

Thames Valley Police will visit too, offering cyclists the chance to get their bikes marked and to learn more about keeping safe on the roads. MK Council and Reconomy will also be at the event, along with the RSPB which will be inspiring people to give nature a home in their gardens with interactive examples of bug hotels and bird homes, children can do some bird anatomy puzzles on Saturday and make their very own dragonfly on Sunday.

Chargemaster will also be demonstrating electric car charging points.

Flo and the rest of the team from Willen Hospice will be signing people up to the MK Midnight Moo (happening on July 16), starting and finishing at intu Milton Keynes.

The walk not only raises awareness and funds for the good work that Willen Hospice does, but promotes wellness through walking – the ultimate green method of transport.
