RENOWNED mathematician and scientist Marcus Du Sautoy gave a lively and engaging lecture to schoolchildren and sixth formers to tempt them towards a future career in the sciences.
Called THE NUM8ER MYSTERIES, the lecture was organised by The Open University in conjunction with the Centre for Earth, Planetary, Space & Astronomical Research, Christmas lecture and was held at the Venue Theatre, Walton High School
Professor Du Sautoy, a Professor of Mathematics at Oxford, is a writer for many of the broadsheets on both maths and science and is a regular on both TV and radio.
Janet Goss, business and scholarship co-ordinator at the OU, said: “It was a fantastic event, the audience were captivated and I’m sure many went away inspired.”
Professor Du Sautoy was presenting to an audience 326 sixth formers and 32 teachers from 13 schools.
