The Barn Beefeater Grill in Milton Keynes has been awarded with the prestigious accolade of ‘Pub of the Season, Winter 2011, by CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale organisation.
This award was granted thanks to the passion and drive of 43-year-old bar team leader Marcus Lonsdale who has worked for the Whitbread group for over 23 years and at the Barn Beefeater Grill in Milton Keynes for the past 12 years. Marcus, a beer and ale enthusiast, has been a firm supporter of CAMRA since he joined the organisation in 2008.
The CAMRA ‘Pub of the Season’ award recognises all the criteria that make a great pub, including atmosphere, decor, customer service, value for money, clientele mix, and most importantly, the quality of the real ale served.
Marcus said: “I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of the Barn beefeater Grill. It’s a fantastic achievement and in my view perfectly reflects the excellent quality of the ales served within the restaurant. I bring in a selection of about 20 guest ales throughout the year and have a few personal favourites, including the Woodforde’s Wheery bitter with its wonderful hints of grapefruit and the Jackpot golden ale from the Hook Norton Brewery.”
CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale is an independent, voluntary organisation campaigning for real ale, community pubs and consumer rights. It supports the pub as the one place in which to consume real ale (also known as cask-conditioned beer, or cask ale) and to try one of over 5,500 different styles now produced across the UK.
