STUDENTS from Milton Keynes Music Service performed to an audience of 800 people at The High Sheriff’s Concert.
The event, which took place at Milton Keynes Theatre, saw 43 pupils play the Vaughan Williams Concerto Grosso ‘Side by Side’ with Milton Keynes City Orchestra.
Conducted by Hilary Davan Wetton, the show also included a solo performance by 14-year-old Simone Porter.
Lead cellist Toby Leonard said: “Playing side by side with a professional orchestra is what I have been working towards since I started to play cello with the MK Music Service. It was definitely the high-light of my life so far.”
The concert was made possible through a grant from MK Community Foundation and marked the start of it’s celebration of 25 years of grant-making in our community.
Chief executive Julia Upton said: “We are delighted to have been able to support so many projects like this in the last 25years.”
