A small business group has launched a challenge to try to use as many local businesses as possible in one week.

Thames Valley Region of the Federation of Small Businesses, which has a North Buckinghamshire branch lead by David Maidment, pictured, launched its Keep Trade Local Challenge at a recent gala dinner.

Iain Stewart, MP for Milton Keynes South, who is taking part in the challenge himself, said: “I think the challenge is an excellent initiative to help promote the wide range of locally produced and sourced products that are available. Just as big supermarkets and other retailers have an important role in the local economy, so too is it essential to have vibrant local traders. I am very happy to support and take part in this challenge.”

The Challenge is to try to use as many local businesses as possible from July 29 to August 4 and then submit a total spend to the grand Thames Valley total to be in with a chance of a £300 prize.

By challenging people to use independent businesses and shops for one week the FSB hopes to encourage people to use what is on their doorstep.
