If you threw a coin into the wishing pool at thecentre:mk Christmas display – you helped raise £12,000 for Willen Hospice.
This is yet another increase on previous year’s donations and the highest amount raised by the wishing pool since 2008.
The wishing pool, at the centre of a Snow White in the Land of Enchanted Dreams display, was designed to be even more enticing and fun for shoppers this year with a dark and light side of the pool, and additional vortex machine. The coins were dried, sorted and counted by volunteers, helped by staff from Willen Hospice and the Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue service based at Great Holm.
Willen Hospice was chosen as thecentre:mk’s Christmas beneficiary enabling it to raise vital funds for its Young Person’s Support Service, which provides much needed help and emotional support for children and young people living with bereavement.
James Waugh, centre director of thecentre:mk, said: “Willen Hospice provides an essential service to the Milton Keynes community and to many individual lives. We are thrilled our shoppers donated so generously and hope this will provide an amazing boost to both finances and morale.”
