Thousands raised for charities

The city’s Freemasons and Rotary clubs have together raised a staggering £35,000 for charities.

Milton Keynes Rotary club members organised a Swimathon to raise £25,500.

The charities benefitting include Crosslinks Centre, Healthcare, Macmillan Cancer Support, Public Arts Trust,the Mayor’s charity, MK Dons Sports and Education Trust, Whaddon Sea Cadets Willen Hospice and the YMCA.

Organiser Bill Blyth has thanked everybody who gave their time and money.

Meanwhile nine lodges and three chapters from MK Freemasons joined forces to raise £10,000 for disabled children.

They sponsored deputy head Clifford Drake to trek 22 miles in a Ridgeway Walk.

The cash will go to Aylesbury’s PACE centre to help children with cerebral palsy get appropriate treatment.
