The Crown Estate-owned MK1 Shopping Park celebrated its first birthday with fun and games on Saturday.
Since opening its doors last year almost three million shoppers have visited the park next to stadium:mk.
The 117,899 sq ft development was funded by The Crown Estate in a £57 million investment in 2011.
It has seven units let by H&M, Marks & Spencer, Outfit, BHS, River Island, Primark, New Look and Next.
Saturday’s activities included music from MKFM, giant games, a treasure hunt and goodie bags from the various retailers on site.
In September The Crown Estate invested a further £32 million at the site to purchase the DW Sports Fitness unit and fund the development of a new leisure park with an IMAX cinema and seven restaurants.
This investment is a part of the organisation’s wider strategy to increase leisure activities at its retail parks to enhance visitor experience.
Hannah Milne, The Crown Estate’s Regional Portfolio Manager, said: “We are delighted with the success of the MK1 shopping park in its first year.”
“The park is one of the most popular retail destinations in the region and delivers a real boost to the local economy. A position which will be furthered strengthened by our investment in the new MK1 Leisure Park on site.”
