There are just a few days left to register for the Milton Keynes fun run, and Macmillan Cancer Support is asking for any runners to sign up before it’s too late.
The charity is hoping to raise lots of money which will help ensure they can provide the practical care which those living with cancer are entitled to.
Macmillan are hoping more people will join the team before the registration deadline at 12pm, Sunday, August 28.
Fundraising manager Sandra Dibling said: “We are absolutely delighted about those who have signed up to the fun run, however we want as many runners as possible to join our team and I would urge anyone who is fit enough to take on this challenge and join us.
“You’ll get fantastic support before, during and after the run, which we know from experience makes a huge difference to those taking on this personal challenge.”
All the money raised from the run will be used to fund Macmillan’s vital cancer services, from specialist nurses and doctors, to help and advice for people who have financial problems as a result of their cancer.
Locally, Macmillan has already given £58,000 in grants to over 300 patients and this year is funding three more community nurses who will provide help and support for those people living with cancer, at their own home.
Much of this is a result of Macmillan’s national event ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ which this year is being held on Friday, September 30.
If you prefer drinking tea to running then you might enjoy raising money by holding your own World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. Take a look at http://coffee.macmillan.org.uk/Home.aspx for some inspiration.
