Time to celebrate the Queen

PEOPLE in Newton Longville are planning something special for the Queen’s Jubilee.

As a lasting tribute the residents of the village commissioned the clock makers, Smiths of Derby to restore the dial of the Parish clock to its former glory.

The clock in the tower of St. Faith’s church was installed in 1892, and has a dial of five and a half feet in diameter and this is one of the largest dials to be found on a small parish church. The dial markings and hands were restored using double thickness 23 carat English gold leaf.
