Woburn Sands strong man Rob Foulkes, 28, has been hand-picked for one of Europe’s most gruelling challenges.

The online marketing manager and journalist is tackling the 13 mile Fisherman’s Friend StrongmanRun at Nurburgring today (May 9) as part of an elite five-strong Team Britain.

The 13,500 entrants will have to overcome 17 obstacles made from reinforced steel, plunge into ice cold pools, suffer electric shocks and clamber up the wall of pain.

As chief editor as one of the UK’s leading obstacle race websites, Muddy Race, Rob is no stranger to this sort of challenge.

But he acknowledges this could be one of the toughest yet.

He said: “I’ve been training hard since the start of the year and am well practised in this sort of event given my job. But, having looked at the scale of the obstacles and sheer number of people taking part, I’m just hoping I get round in one piece and finish in a good position to make Team Britain proud!”
