THE final phase of construction of the new Wolverton Station building is now underway with the steel structure in place.
The design is sympathetic to the historic Victorian buildings around it and reflects Wolverton’s railway heritage. The station will be constructed of a specialist timber-frame. The concrete floor, brickwork walls and slate roof will then be added. The development of the station building began in June 2011 and will be completed in Spring 2012 when rail users will be able to use the new ticket office, booking hall, toilets and seated waiting area.
During construction there has been limited parking available, although additional spaces have been made available along Wolverton Park.
Milton Keynes Council cabinet member for transport Councillor John Bint said: “The contractors are doing everything possible to minimise the impact, but there is some inconvenience, so we’d like to thank members of the public for their patience.”
