A new BBC show is set to reveal how one city man swapped football and a night out with the lads for nappies and prams.

‘Don’t Just Stand There... I’m Having Your Baby’, tells how Milton Keynes Hospital midwife, Angela Weatherley, helped dad-to-be Jamie Beharry prepare for fatherhood.

When Jamie’s partner Caron fell pregnant, the 23-year-old found it hard to take responsibility for what was to come. His life had revolved around his mates, the footie and going out pubbing and clubbing. Caron signed up to the programme to help him to cut down on his lads’ lifestyle and focus on her and the baby.

The pair’s efforts were made more complicated by the fact Caron has a blood condition which meant that if her platelet count wasn’t high enough during labour, she may not have been able to have had an epidural.

But things all worked out for them as Caron gave birth to bouncing baby boy, Harley.

Jamie said: “I had no idea of how to support Caron and was dreading the labour itself. This fear turned to me understanding my responsibilities and my excitement grew.”

Angela said: “Jamie learnt so much about what to expect and what to do – this was evident with the second-to-none, empathetic support he provided to Caron.”

The programme will air at 9am on BBC Three on Monday, April 15.
