A man’s body has been found on the northbound carriageway of the M1 near Newport Pagnell.
The unidentified man was struck by more than one vehicle before police were called at around 10.30pm last night.
The motorway was closed between junctions 14 and 15 as police launched an investigation into his death.
Officers says it is not yet clear how he came to be on the motorway, but they believe he may have been involved in a collision.
His next of kin have not yet been informed.
PC Ian Baldock said: “I would like to speak to anyone who may have any information about this incident, no matter how small the detail.
“It appears the man may have been struck by more than one vehicle.
“We are working to trace any vehicles which may have been involved.
“If you saw anything out of the ordinary on the M1 last night, or noticed anything in the road please contact TVP as a matter of urgency.”
