A brass band with 100 years of history has received a pre-Christmas shock after a year of fund-raising.
Bradwell Silver Band has spent most of 2015 gathering cash to pay for smart new jackets for its members.
But this week the company they contracted to tailor their new uniform went into liquidation.
Members are now anxiously waiting to see whether their £5,500 can be refunded.
Band Secretary Robin Alllen said: “This is a real shock for the band and we’re still working through what we’re going to do”
Last year the band, which is made up of voluntary musicians, raised £2,400 for the Help the Heroes campaign.
Members will be carolling in New Bradwell and Bradville in the lead up to Christmas.
And on Christmas morning in New Bradwell the band will give its usual 6am performance – before which local tradition upholds that children cannot open their presents.
The band is now hoping Christmas-spirited donations will be made towards replacement jackets.
