The web is green for anyone in Milton Keynes who plans on recycling, thanks to the updated app Recycle For MK.
Anyone who already has the app downloaded to their device can update to receive the new version, which also takes into account any date changes following a bank holiday, making it particularly useful to have over the festive season.
Anyone unsure of whether a particular item can be recycled can look it up on the app to find out whether it can go in the weekly collection service or needs to be taken it to a Community Recycling Centres.
The council is also able to send out alerts to users, informing them of any issues which may affect waste collections, such as a broken down vehicle or adverse weather conditions.
Councillor Mick Legg, cabinet member for waste and environment, said: “The Recycle For MK app provides an excellent way of communicating directly with residents, helping them to recycle items correctly and know when to put out their waste for collection.
“At times when the service may be affected due to circumstances beyond our control, such as heavy snowfall, we can keep residents using the app informed. I would urge everyone with an Apple or Android device to install it now.”
The app can be downloaded from the iTunes app store for Apple devices or through Google Play for Android devices, or on the council website www.milton-keynes.gov.uk/recycling
