VIDEO: Fishermead clean is a hit with residents

Residents of Fishermead Residents Association rolled up their sleeves and got down to the gritty task of clearing the estate of rubbish on Saturday.

Fishermead has been blighted by the problem of discarded waste in recent years, and the event was greeted with a positive response by many residents during the course of the clean up.

Braving the inclement weather, volunteers collected one and a half tonnes of discarded litter and dumped goods from the green areas on the estate.

“We are doing this because we are not prepared to live in the filth,” Residents Association chairman Terry Baines told the Citizen.
