Labour chiefs were in town today to launch NHS Week at Milton Keynes University Hospital.
Ed Balls, Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, and Shadow Secretary of State for Health Andy Burnham, toured A&E as part of the Labour’s week-long campaign focus on the NHS.
When quizzed whether Labour will be able to continue, if elected, plans for a £178million investment in the hospital, Mr Burnham remained cautious.
He said: “There is an in principle commitment from me here. This area needs an expanded hospital and expanded A&E facilities - I can see that.
“I can’t say today where and when that funding will be available, but there is an in principle to support the hospital, expand its facilities so it can improve patient care.”
